Ignis of the Endless Winter by Orchid Seed
Project details
Japanese software company Nitroplus are behind the origin of Ignis, who can be seen in the visual novel game Jingai Makyo which was released to the domestic market in 2005. To this day it has yet to be translated for the international fans which sadly is not uncommon practice with Japanese game titles.
As Jingai Makyo features adult content, the demon hunter Ignis does not only pierce the flesh of her enemies but also takes on the reverse role together with male lead and college student Kumon Katsuki.
The figure’s contraption of a garb features multiple clasps stretching over Ignis’ back, waist and fully covered arms. It also wouldn’t be an Orchid Seed product without an optional castoff feature. To properly strip Ignis down, one has to remove her head, collar and undo nine pegs (two above her breasts, three on the right side of the stomach, four connecting the upper part with the lower one) in order to get the jerkin off. The massive bottom part of the gown can be removed once the figure’s right leg has been detached.
Like with Yui, the secondary outfit feels a bit forced and almost out of place when it hasn’t received the same kind of attention as its counterpart. Despite that, I wouldn’t say that Ignis looks bad in her dressed down state but for me she’s going from amazing to good once the clothes have dropped.

Nice setup! The scene you’ve created really suits the figure. Am I correct in assuming that the foreground and background materials are custom-made?
Orchid Seed obviously poured a lot of effort into creating Ignis, as the sculpt is ambitious in its level of detail and the figure endured numerous delays on its way to production that I can only assume were in the interest of maximizing product quality. It looks like she was worth the wait.
I opted not to preorder Ignis over mixed feelings concerning her outfit. I can appreciate that the dress is beautifully detailed and gives Ignis a certain elegance that her original outfit does not, but I also found it to be rather monochrome and I ultimately prefer her original attire. Seeing how well the final figure turned out is making me reconsider that position, though.
I agree that the cast-off option seems forced, but cast-off options usually do. It’s practically expected in the ero-figure segment and Orchid Seed, particularly, seems always happy to oblige. At least in Ignis’ case, the presence of the nude option doesn’t appear to negatively affect her fully-clothed state.
Nightmare
Your assumption is partially correct, the ground portion is a piece of floor mat.
Ignis is indeed a marvel of a sculpt, with all the details put into this figure as well as the cast-off execution I’m not surprised that it took Orchid Seed this long to release her.
I like the original outfit as well, though ideally I wouldn’t liked to see Orchid Seed use the other Nitroplus artwork. Obviously that version wouldn’t have sold nearly as well because of the closed eyes and unorthodox pose but I find it far more fitting the character.
Very true. I have no issue with nudity but when something serves no purpose, regardless if it’s of an explicit nature or not, I get discouraged from exploring the subject further.

Your speed and convincing self built settings are scary =)
Have you planned and built it long in advance?
My order of Ignis was ore of a “why not” decision. She appeared like something nice to have in your collection. I like how she turned out, she is so big and the wedding dress is very beautiful and the figure has a strong presence.
I don’t always need a castoff feature, but it’s nice to have, anyway.
A thing that I liked about Ignis was her body and the boobs, also the white transparency effect on her looks great. Well, I’ll display all my figures dressed up, but for the picture shooting I like to make use off castoffability ^^
I already received mine and Im quite satisfied with her look. The folds of her skirt are so nice. Placing Ignis on the base was a bit weird and I don’t really trust the safety of a few pegs holding such a heavy figure, lets hope it will last some time.
I didn’t made her naked so far, but thx for the tip with pulling out the leg. I’ll take a closer look next week.

The upside to early pre-ordering is that one has ample time and opportunity to scramble a few setting ideas in advance. Eventually one of those ideas will materialize and hopefully reflect what you’ve kept in your head all that time. I tend to ensure that whatever setting I use is ready roughly a month ahead of time, allowing me to test shoot either an empty setting or together with a similar sized figure.
I like Ignis’ towering presence and the half straight-jacket, half wedding gown. And let us not to forget that sassy attitude of hers. Good to hear that you’re happy with your Ignis as well.
There’s some doubt here too if the base pegs will support the added weight of the skirt for a longer period of time. Should that time come, at least there’s an option to drop excess cargo.
