Alleyne by Orchid Seed
Project details
It’s been a while since I watched any anime and having briefly checked out Queen’s Blade to catch up on this character I don’t feel too inclined to venture back to animation anytime soon. That doesn’t change the fact that Orchid Seed’s Alleyne is one of the many voluptuous starlets from the series, a character who takes au naturel to new heights by entangling herself in leaves and vines.
Orchid Seed are no strangers to nudity and Alleyne is no exception. The full-castoff option was slightly tricky and would’ve been a bit confusing if not for the English (!) manual; the bikini top comes off easily after removing the head but the bikini bottom takes a good push down the left leg after dejecting the small peg in the front.
I guess I don’t order enough 1/6 scale figures to not get surprised by the sheer size each time one arrives at the doorstep. Being 27 cm / 10.53 in tall makes for an impressive display and for a personal sweetspot in the collection. Alleyne is pretty much your regular bikini girl if not for the greenery theme which was one of the main reasons for her ending up here.

I probably wouldn’t take Queen’s Blade as a shining example of the best anime has to offer. Although, I recall the first season having more substance than I expected for a show so focused on delivering T&A.
I was happy to see Orchid Seed adapt this particular artwork for Alleyne. The preorder period seemingly lasted forever, but I managed to create some unnecessary drama for myself by waiting to preorder her until the last possible moment when she was sold out almost everywhere. Mine’s still in the mail, but judging from your photos I think I’ll be pleased with my purchase.
I quite like what you did with the diorama for this shoot. The foliage and fog effect complement Alleyne’s look very nicely.
Nightmare
Very true. I guess I shouldn’t have any expectations or hopes for any kind of depth in today’s norm of available anime shows. There are exceptions, of course, but I feel that most of the current selection of anime series transcend to today’s music and movies.
Alleyne felt different to the regular smiling bikini girl (nothing wrong with those) so I thought it would be interesting to shoot. Her outfit isn’t exactly casual wear either, which eased the decision to pre-order.
I shared similar pre-ordering woes with GSC’s Nadeko Sengoku back when the interest in figure collecting began. Naive I thought it’d be alright to wait until the actual release date but it turned out just the opposite. Fortunately the order was put on backorder and a few weeks later the figure was in my possession.

Wow, is that dry ice there? Aside from the props you used, I love the lighting here. Makes Alleyne look sexier than usual :D
Nightmare
That is indeed dry ice. Your words on lighting are appreciated, Alleyne sends her regards on the sexy remarks.

Great job! 1/6 is my favorite scale because it seems to walk that line of being huge, but also generally well-made. 1/4 and larger figures usually seem to lack detail, or just look off in some way.
I really like your set and the fog effect! What did you do for that?
Nightmare
I think I have more 1/4 than 1/6 in my collection and I certainly agree on the difference in detail and quality. FREEing being the best manufacturer of 1/4 figures may have a part in that but some improvements have been made in recent years.
The fog is dry ice put in water. A few dry ice pellets were placed on each side of the figure, hot water (temperate determines the reaction; the warmer the bigger reaction) was then poured onto the pellets. When the reaction had stabilized a small fan was used to bring motion in one direction.

Ah Alleyne is the hottest Elf figure I’ve seen so far ∩(︶▽︶)∩
Everything about her looks so good, the body sculpting is done in a quite appealing way. I haven’t stripped her yet, but her boobs look different than onn most figure, it’s very close to a more natural shape. Actually the whole figure has this natural feel, not only because of her jungle bikini ^^.
Nice setup, have you borrowed the stuff from your exotic animals?
Nightmare
It’s a good looking figure for sure and I agree on the shapes and sizes of things involved in the creation of Alleyne.
There were plenty of volunteers sitting in the kitchen window willing to lend a hand or vine.

Hi, I have trouble with removing her head. Would you please film a tutorial on that?. Thanks.
Nightmare
Hello.
Alleyne’s head does indeed have a tight fit. While I cannot provide video for detaching the head I’ll give an attempt to describe the procedure.
Secure the figure with one hand holding it by the right (our left) leg. With your other hand, place your thumb below the figure’s chin and two fingers on the back of the head. Now pull the head upwards while gently rotating it to the right and it should come off. Don’t be afraid to use (non-excessive) force.

Hi, Thank you very much for the instructions!. I will try it when I’m home from work.
